Professional Headshots
7 Helpful Tips for Your Session
1. What to Wear
Dress like your boss or wear what you would normally wear when meeting with a client. For the best look on camera, I recommend solid colors, avoiding things with stripes and crazy designs. If you decide to wear white I would bring a blazer as well to create less exposure on your shirt.
2. Shiny Skin
Artificial light can cause the skin to look shiny/greasy/sweaty. Woman, I would suggest a bit of concealer/foundation. Men, I recommend visiting the bathroom to wash off your face before the photo if possible.
3. Hair
More for the women, I would recommend having a brush handy to have your hair looking neat as photoshopping hair is difficult as there are many little strands.
4. Makeup
You want your headshot to look natural, so keep it simple.
5. Glasses
If you normally wear them, then wear them in the photo. If you only wear them sometimes, decide the day before if you want to wear them so there aren't any nose marks.
6: Communication
On the day of the shoot- Help the photographer know your favorite side for photos, if you don't like how you look in any of the photos then be sure to let me know so we can get you looking great!
7: Positivity
Some people don't like having their photos taken and it can be tempting to tell the photographer "I don't like photos, no one can ever take a good photo of me". As a photographer, I want to make the client happy, so take a deep breath and relax. I will be communicating with everyone to set them at ease. Remind yourself that it's just a photo, you are going to do great!
Oh Yeah, One Last Thing
The day before, be sure to get plenty of rest. On the day of the shoot, be confident and don’t overthink it. You have someone who will be walking with you through the entire process. You got this!
